Raw WordPress Theme – Homepage Slider Setup

The slider on the homepage, which is also available on the project pages, is one of the most prominent features of our Raw WordPress Theme. To make sure you know exactly how to set them up, we recently created a few video tutorials that are easy to follow and that complement the online documentation.

Here are three videos that will show you step-by-step how to create your slider and add slides, how to add captions to your slides and how to add background videos to any or each slide if you so choose to.

Note that in Raw WordPress Theme the featured slider on the project pages work the same way as the slider on the homepage, so you can follow the same steps when you’re setting up your portfolio. However, these options are not available for the shortcode slider, which works quite differently.

Creating Your Slider and Adding Slides

Points to note
  • Slider images must be uploaded to the page you are working on.
  • The “Display Opt.” setting must be set to “Display in Featured Slider” for every image you want to use as a slide.
  • Do not click on “Insert Into Post” once you’re done. The media modal automatically saves your changes so there is no “Save” button.
  • You need to use at least 2 slides for the slider to function.

Adding Captions

Points to note
  • There is no “Save” button. Changes in the media modal are automatically saved once you click outside the field you’ve edited.
  • Do not click “Insert Into Post” once you’re done.

You can find all the different types of captions you can use with the slider in Raw in the documentation under Full Width Media Caption Types and Examples.

Adding HTML Background Videos to Your Slides

Points to note
  • You must upload an image to the slide, that will be used as the poster image for the video.
  • To ensure cross-browser compatibility for your background videos, you need to make sure to upload and use the following file formats for each one: mp4/mv4, ogg/ogv, and webm.

You can find more information about adding HTML5 video backgrounds to your slides in the documentation under Adding Background Video.

Stay tuned for more tutorials! :)
